呵呵~ 事緣是今天無聊在網上走走~ 發現了一些, 其中一句~ 蠻喜歡~
*有志者，事竟成：Where there's a will, there's a way.
說起will這字, 比較常用的是
will
v.
aux.將, 願意, 必須
但在這裡則以名詞(noun)用
will
n.
意志, 決心, 意向, 遺囑
例: Where there's a will to learn English, there's a way (呵呵~ 不正確請指正~ ^^")
那way就簡單得多了~
way
n.
路, 路線, 路途, 習慣, 行業, 規模, 道路, 情形
所以翻譯過來, 也蠻直接的~
熊忽發奇想~ 
如果大家都可以將一些有趣英語句子募集起來~ 一來可以學習~ 二來可集各家之力

我來說說英文裏兩個關於馬的片語,是剛聽空英聽到的.
don't look a gift horse in the mouth
字面上意思是說不要檢查別人所送的馬的牙齒,
因為馬的牙齒能夠顯示馬的狀態,所以精明的買家都會檢查牙齒來確認馬的好壞.
延伸意思是:對別人送你的東西不要太吹毛求疵或是挑三撿四
主要是用在送禮物或是免費贈品時,要求受領人不要拿禮還挑的意思
這句話很實用喔!!
如P2P世界都是靠大家的無償熱心供檔,基於把好東西分享給大家的心情,
此時,如果遇到白目的的人,對別人供檔還要求東要求西的,
你就可以對他說 don't look a gift horse in the mouth ^^
來看看一些英英解釋或用去
1.The phrase is used to tell someone to be grateful for something that has been given to them, instead of asking questions about it or finding something wrong with it.
2.You are looking a gift horse in the mouth when you receive a gift and then you question the value of that gift.
hold your horses!
字面意思是勒住你的馬,引申就是指:慢著,且慢,等等,耐心點兒 的意思.
(注意,horse要用複數horses喔)
多是用在要別人別衝動,或是要人等一下.
如:
A: Is that food ready yet?
B: Hold your horses. We have a few more minutes to go.

題外話,說到有趣英文句子/成語,
高中時曾把隨意看到的補習班傳單、小冊子等的好用句子剪下來貼在筆記本裏,
那時也收集了幾十條,昨天去翻筆記本翻好久都找不到.
可能是之前搬家時被我丟了....雖然我不記得,也覺得我應該不可能把它丟了...但就是找不到...

還有一個

解讀中.....
應該跟上面那個一樣，只是說的是伐木工，不過有人說是啄木鳥，但是我查了英英、英漢字典也沒查到 wood chuck 可以代表啄木鳥...

莎士比亚的剧本《哈姆雷特》中的一句台词，翻译为"是生存, 还是毁灭，这是一个问题。"，表明了哈姆雷特在遭遇命运捉弄和沉重打击时矛盾而痛苦的心理。
也可以翻译为“去做，还是不去做，这是一个问题。”
可以把be换成其他的单词来表达不同的意思，比如To marry or not to marry, that is the question（问题在于，到底要不要结婚呢）

我很喜歡的一句,也是很久以前在網路上看來的.出處不可考了.
Right brain is nothing left,left brain is nothing right.
大家都知道right是右邊也是正確的意思,而left是左邊也是剩下的意思.
所以這句以學理上來看是說
右腦裡的都不是左腦的,左腦裡的都不是右腦的.(右腦管右腦的,左腦管左腦的)
而以雙關語來看就是...
右腦沒有一點東西,左腦沒有啥是對的.

去年(2005)的十二月份的Ivy Analytical English裡面有跟狗相關的成語(為了因應狗年)
1.work like a dog 工作累得像狗
e.g. Sheila worked like a dog to complete the book report on time.
席拉為求準時完成讀書報告而拼命趕工。
2.dog-eat-dog 狗咬狗的；殘酷無情的
e.g. At this dog-eat-dog school, only the top students will graduate with honors.
在這個競爭殘酷的學校，只有最頂尖的學生能以優等成績畢業。
3.every dog has its day 風水輪流轉；凡人皆有得意時
e.g. Every dog has its day and you're certain to succeed if you just continue to work hard.風水輪流轉，只要你肯繼續努力，一定會成功。
4.fight like cats and dogs 大打出手
e.g. The twins fight like cats and dogs about everything.
那對雙胞胎為了每件事大打出手。

找到了這個
我想你說的是一句美國俗語：
It ain't over until the fat lady sings!
意思是「不到最後關頭，事不算完」，就是不死心的意思。這句話的起源是因為傳統西方歌劇最後通常都是由女主角〈也是女高音〉唱出一首歌來做結束。女高音一般身材都滿「雄壯」的，所以有些觀眾〈尤其那些被老婆拖去看又看不懂的男士们〉就開玩笑說要等胖女士出來唱歌了，他們的苦刑才算完。
until the fat lady sings 後來就衍生為最後關頭的意思。最後關頭結束後，自然就勝負已分啦！

Sticker Shock 貴得驚人
A Big Shot 功能齊全且貴的東西
拍賣的時候，一個東西會有sticker price 標價，suggested price建議售價，invoice price進貨價格
標價標太貴就是一個sticker shock，另外競標的人叫bidders
De`ja` Vu 似曾相識 好像也常用。

putting his foot in his mouth --> saying embarrassing things(這句還蠻好玩的)
beating around the bush -->speaking indirectly打太極拳
looking for a needle in a haystack -->doing something difficult做困難的事

到不知第N的人被叫起來後

加上I like 的句意就不清楚了!!
可能是外國的某一句諺語吧!!
